she was the sweetest
thing I have ever known.
She is a Rex rabbit,
which means she does not have any outer guard hairs,
only the soft undercoat,
all the same length, so she was just like velvet.
She was my velveteen
rabbit.
Thank you again

To all my Muffin friends,
It is with a heavy
heart that I wanted to let you know that Pablo (Siamese cat, diagnosed
diabetic July 1999)
passed away on Sunday
in his home.
He was able to see
his 15th birthday and had a wonderful day with us.
His health had been
failing for the last 2 weeks and he had not been eating or drinking well.
He had fought many
health crises before and we have been so lucky to have him all these years.
Thank you all for
your wonderful advice over the years.

of Muffin within months of its inception -
her antics and health
concerns were followed with great interest by everyone -
from eating peanuts
to her proxy marriage to Derek,
to the latest "Dr.

we all looked forward
to the next Queenie installment.
We shall miss her.

Cookie went to the bridge this afternoon peacefully in her sleep. She was
napping in the yard
and passed away. She never really recovered from the
episode last week
and died from renal failure. I expected it would happen 1
day this week and
am glad she did not suffer and that died in one of her
favorite places.
I will miss her terribly,
but I have the most wonderful memories that will
always linger on.

MY DEAREST FRIEND OF 20 YEARS
Spot
my beloved cat of 20 years was diagnosed with diabetes about 5 years
ago..
I'm losing my friend of 20 years, my soulmate, my heart ...
Thank
you all for your heartfelt wishes and outpouring of love regarding the
loss
of my dear friend and pal of 20 years, Spot.. Spot lived with diabetes
for
over 7 years.. this is to just let you know that in the end, it wasn't
the
diabetes that ended her life... she had developed a mass in her lungs and
with
that, plus old age, her little body just began to shut down..
The
doctors
said that they have never seen a stronger 20 year old cat. I
carefully
(as carefully as one can with diabetes, a bitch of a disease),
monitored
her blood sugar every day and gave her PZI insulin as needed..
She was so good and brave about this ritual that when it came time to prick
her ear, she would not even budge from her sleeping spot, but instead,
just tilt
her
ear.... She seemed to know that it was for her good and she completely
trusted
me.. purring through the whole thing.
Spot
has been with me since she was 1 day old. I had her and her
3 siblings
all
their lives as well. Snowball lived to 18 and Smokey was 12 and died
of
lymphoma
and little Midnight died at 1 month old in my arms. Spot was
the
last
of the family. She was a character... she went everywhere with
me,
wearing
various hats while riding in my red convertible... Most recently she
was
proud of the fact that she would tool around Safeway in the child's seat
of
the basket and point to her own brand of cat food on the shelf with her
paw!!
Everyone in Safeway knew her and always asked about her when she
didn't
accompany me. She also would go with me to the Post Office
when I had mounds of Ebay packages to send. She would sit up
on the counter in her red
cowboy
hat, and everyone there would say "Hi Spot!". They are going
to be
devastated
when they hear the news.
She
would ride with me in the car over the Golden Gate bridge, her whiskers
blowing
in the breeze... Cars passing us, would do double takes when they saw
a black
and white cat with a red cowboy hat on sitting up looking out the
window!!
Spot
and I grew even closer since her siblings died, and it was just her and
me
against the world. That is why this day has been most difficult
for me..
I have
cried until there is no liquid left in my body and feel absolutely
drained
of energy, with a huge hole in my heart. I will miss her warm,
purring
body above my head on the pillow tonight, but I know she is at the
Rainbow
Bridge running toward her sisters and dog brother...
Goodbye
my little precious Spot, who never judged, never got mad, never held a
grudge,
and loved me no matter what I looked like... I know I will
meet up
with
all my fur babies again someday and strongly believe that it will be then
that
they will be able to speak to me and I to them in a common language.
Thank you all again for your caring and love and prayers..
Well,
little Spot is back home and now is out on the deck keeping watch over
the
butterflies and birds....

He`d been `pottering`
around quite well over the past few days. He
wanted to go for
a walk in morning but after being on the field for 10
minutes his back
end collapsed. The Vet arranged for an animal ambulance to come for him.
We waited almost an hour for it. I sat with him on the grass. His head
in my lap. It was to be his last walk.
My Mum was with me
as I whispered `Love you loads Mousse` in his ear and
he drifted gently
to the Bridge.
My heart is broken..
I can't believe he is gone

Nicki's long and convoluted
struggle ended this morning when she was helped
to the Bridge. Nicki
was truly a Muffin cat. She was placed in Maine through Susan and
Muffin after
Missy Zane had rescued her from euthanasia in Maryland. At
the beginning, we
thought that She was He...and someone on the List
suggested the name
Nick (because he had been rescued "in the nick of
time"). A trip
to the vet changed "Nicholas" to "Nicodemia".
Nicki was a very splendid
cat. She was extremely intelligent and really
quite literate.
Her passing on has left a gap in my life and in the lives
of the rest of her
household here in Maine.

know me as I have
been a lurker on this list since 1997 when Tigger was
diagnosed- I was
one of the first people to sign up on this list and was led
to you by Rebecca
and her cat Austin many moons ago. I guess it is time for
me to move on from
this wonderful list, but I wanted to donate Tigger's
glucometer to someone
who may be able to help their pet with it. I also
want to thank you
for all your hard work on this list. Your dedication
shows and is certainly
appreciated. Just let me know what I need to do.
Thanks,

Rocket was a wonderful
fur baby, 18 lbs of loving tabby. I used to
call him my big teddy
bear. He was with us almost 13 years and I still
remember rescuing
him during a thunder storm. He had hidden under our pool
equipment along with
another older stray that we had been feeding. They
were making so much
noise that we brought them both into the house and that
was the beginning.
Stetson, the other stray looked after Rocket until
Stetson was called
to the Bridge, and Rocket had a had time with that. I
think Sox, a tuxedo
cat that we had acquired when a neighbor moved and left
behind helped him
through it.
I have to say Rocket
was doing great with his diabetes, diagnosed 2 1/2
years ago. Rocket
had not been himself recently and when bloodwork came
back the dr said
he had leukemia. and chemo was the only treatment, and that
woudln't guarantee
any time etc. I just couldn't put the dear soul
through that so I
took him to the dr's that evening and helped him to the
Bridge. Rocket had
also been diagnosed with FIV years ago
I wish you all
good memories and good faith with your babies.
