2008 Old-Maine Calendar

Fairfield is a central Maine community founded before the Revolution
and dominated by the local historical society and the local grange.
Both organizations have teamed up, culling old photographs from the collections
of each, to produce this terrific calendar of old area pictures. Perfect
for Maine-iacs, MIEs, those with local roots and historians!

Vintage Snowman Lamp

This delightful vintage snowman lamp made was by World
Bazaars Inc. of Commerce, California. The base is 7 1/4" and the
shade is 4 1/4". Assembled it's about 11 total inches. There is an
off-on switch and the bulb is included. It is marked "for indoor
use only". The box is kind of beat up, but the lamp has never been out
of the box other than to have the picture taken.

Ark Musical "box"

Noah's Ark wind-up musical piece. This is whimsical!
5 " and 11 " tall, it is crammed full of animals...Mr
and Mrs Noah, holding some kitties, elephants, bunnies and zebras, lions,
monkeys and giraffes. Frogs and pandas cling on to giraffe necks, while
one dove perches on a giraffes head and another "flies" above. There are
cows and horses, pigs and chickens, baby bears and walruses. On the base,
which consists of the waves, there are dolphins and fish swimming along.
It is a musical piece...I can't name the song it plays,
but it is one we have all heard, perhaps on carosels. The Ark is on a spring
that floats above the base, so it does not go in circles like a normal
music box, but instead rocks and sways over the waves on the base, as if
it is indeed making a journey over the ocean.
