To dilute you need special neutral dilutant which can be obtained from any manufacturer upon request. This should be done by a compounding pharmacist or in a very clean environment. We don't have a lot of information on compounding but below is a list of compounders. If you are looking for a specific insulin, contact these. It seems that PZI can be made as a U-40 (like Anpro was), a U-100 or U-50 insulin. Make sure you know what you are getting. Sometimes, for a very small animal, diluting works best because for
something like a fractional unit, it's easier to pull the larger units
accurately. So, let's say you really want 1/2 unit of insulin.
It's kind of hard to guage that accurately on some syringes, so if
it's diluted say to a U-50 insulin level, you'd pull 1 unit and you'd have
a mark on the syringe to guage by. Also, in theory the extra dilutation
might help the steady absorbtion of the small amounts.
