Tigger's Story: I adopted Tigger over 10 years ago from an animal shelter 20 miles from Havre. He was about 4 months old and had been living in a wood pile on a farm. He is a neutered male grey tiger striped shorthair. He has had a hard time through the years, he developed asthma 5 years ago and has been on and off of prednisone over the years. In April of this year I thought he had a stroke as he was very lethargic and was having trouble walking. He was also drinking massive quantities of water and urinating constantly. I took him to the vet expecting the worst. It was determined that he was diabetic and was kept in the clinic for 4 days to get regulated. When he finally came home, he was about 3 pounds lighter and was on 2 units of insulin in the morning and 2 at night. It was quite an adjustment for us but we are used to the shots now and are having no problems. He is on 2 units in the morning and only 1 unit at night. Rock's Story: Rock is a Cairn Terrier mix that I found eating out of a dumpster
on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation. He was covered in mud, excrement,
oil, and numerous other mystery substances. I bathed him and took
him to the vet and boy did he get the works! He received all of his
shots, and wormer and was neutered also. He was recently diagnosed
with Diabetes and was in the clinic for 5 days with a catheter while they
tried to regulate him. He was a stinker and it took 3 different times
to get him regulated. He is currently on 9 units in the morning and
8 units in the evening.
